Chinese in Box Hill

Those in the know, know David and Camy’s in Station Street, Box Hill.

Cheap but very nice Shanghai/Taiwan style Chinese food. (*Note: Do not expect Aussie style Cantonese food here!).

On a cold Saturday, after a sweaty ride from the inner north, $15 for a decent lunch for two is a nice treat.

A plate of fried pork dumplings with a plate of fried vegies with mushrooms really hit the collective spot for two hungry cyclists.  The dumplings are plentiful, fried well, so there is almost no oil left.  The sweet and yummy pork filling was complemented by the crunch of the pastry wrap.  The green vegie’s with the occasional mushroom and the astringency of the vinegar made for a balanced range of flavours.  Garnished with some chilli oil and chinese style vinegar, this meal was nice.

This restaurant is a favourite of mine and for many locals as well, so expect to wait a few minutes for a table on a busy weekend.  The environment is not too noisy, has laminex table tops, tables for two up to eight, quick service and is an honest quick lunch spot.

David and Camy Noodle Restaurant 605 Station Street, Box Hill.  Note that there is another place at 590, across the road, with a similar name and it’s not nearly as good! Map.
